We are officially 10 days into our trip! Today we leave the East side of Glacier National Park. We wanted to head to the West side and visit Lake McDonald and see the other side of the park that was more mountainous. As we headed out of St. Mary’s, we had to stop and see the wild horses that ran across the road. It was awesome!

In West Glacier, we decided to park the camper, unhitch, and then make the drive as the park’s worker said that it wouldn’t be much fun to drive with the camper. Not a problem, as most of the parks will let you leave a camper behind in the visitor’s center. We unhitched, and headed up the road.
We started noticing that all of the pull-offs were coned off and we didn’t really understand why. Well, after driving another 10 minutes, we realized that there was a ton of construction occurring. At this point, we were literally in stopped traffic as they let truck after truck pass us with whatever road making material they had. It turned our easy 1-hour detour to see the West side of Glacier into a 2-hour stopped trafficy area that we turned around at the first possible opportunity. I made Scott pull over on the way down once we got past all of the traffic cones to see a little beach area on Lake McDonald. It was super pretty and we were bummed that this put a damper on our view of that side of the park.

We got back to the camper, walked around the visitor center a little, and then hooked up and headed out! Our next major stop would be the North Cascades National Park. There is no easy way to get to the North Cascades from Glacier, so on a recommendation from a coworker, we stopped in Coeur D’Alene, Idaho for the night. I actually convinced Scott to go out to dinner, at what would be our first time eating out the whole trip. Coeur D’Alene is a beautiful little mountain town that has an awesome lake in the middle. Our campground was inside the city limits, but they had kept all of these huge trees so we actually felt like we weren’t in a city for the night. It was so cool!

Our next leg of the journey is to head to the state of Washington to see the North Cascades!
